General Dynamics Itronix enhance the class leading DynaVueTM display of the fully-rugged GD8000 notebook to offer customers a brighter, more reliable and efficient sunlight-viewable display. To accomplish this, the CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) that serve as backlights in the LCD display will be replaced by LEDs.
Best of all GD8000 pricing is unchanged, this means users will get the benefit of a higher performance display at no additional cost.
The new LED-backlit display extends the value proposition of the fully-rugged GD8000 notebooks for mission-critical applications by providing the following advantages and benefits:-
Advantages:
Best-in-class viewability in direct sunlight through optimal combination of LED technology & proven DynaVueTM Technology
Meets MIL-STD-3009 U.S. military specification for aircraft interior lighting for NVIS compatibility
Lower power consumption: No need to increase the display brightness which helps extend the battery and overall life of the display
Less reflection and glare: LCD treatments reduce glare and eliminate the internal reflections that wash out display clarity
Benefits:
Enhances the user experience: quickly reaches full brightness and provides an unparalleled display performance with vivid color and sharper images
Maximizes the productivity of mobile workers: reduces power consumption, extending battery life for "on-the-go" jobs
Improved rugged reliability: LEDs, being solid state components, are difficult to damage with external shock unlike fluorescent bulbs
Supports green initiatives: protects the environment by reducing air pollution from carbon emissions andrelease of harmful toxins during recycling or disposal
The new LED-backlit display on the GD8000 provides many advantages over the existing CCFL-backlit display: -
Metric | LED | CCFL | LED advantage |
